WHY SHOULD YOU SPAY OR NEUTER YOUR PET?

1. It is currently 2023. In the U.S. there are 6-8 million homeless animals entering shelters every year. Less than half are adopted, the rest are euthanized.

2. Most animals that end up in shelters are not the offspring of "street" or feral animals. Surprisingly, they are the offspring of cherished family pets.

3. Breeding: Creating more dogs or cats when there is already an enormous over population of domesticated animals who cannot find homes, is cruel. Generally speaking, every time someone "buys" a dog or cat from a breeder, a shelter animal available for "adoption", dies. It is the natural result of supply and demand and this can be changed by not creating a demand.

4. It is fact that your un-spayed or un-neutered pets offspring could be the next generation of shelter pets. Most people do not believe that their pets puppies or kittens could be homeless roaming the streets or in a shelter somewhere but statistics prove that this has become a reality.

5. Spaying and neutering is not just for cats and dogs! Rabbits reproduce faster than both cats and dogs, so remember to spay or neuter your pet rabbit!

6. Spaying or neutering is the only 100% effective form of birth control for animals.

7. By spaying or neutering your pet, you are helping to end unnecessary suffering and death. You are helping to stop pet starvation, disease, overpopulation, homelessness, suffering, and euthanasia.

8. "Rescuing" or "adopting" a pet from a shelter or in some other way is truly a rewarding experience! Spaying or neutering your pet ensures that you are not contributing to other animal's suffering or death.

*For more information on spaying and neutering your pet, contact your veterinarian. If you have difficulty with the cost of spaying/neutering, there are organizations that can help. The Spayed Club is able to offer spaying/neutering for your pet for a reasonably low cost.
